Traditional Bedroom Design Ideas

A traditional fitted bedroom design has many elements to consider

We’ve put together a list of some of the essential traditional bedroom ideas that you may wish to consider. These should help you begin your journey to your dream traditional bedroom design!

1. Stylish symmetry

A key feature that is consistently used in the design of a traditional bedroom is symmetry. Through the placement of lamps, beside tables, pillows and other furniture symmetry is desirable. This is also known as the concept of ‘balance’ which is related to bringing calm and order to a room. You could opt for the more formal mirror symmetry or asymmetry if you wanted to shake things up a little!

2. Traditional elegance

Traditional bedrooms are usually associated with a certain level of elegance. You can make your space as elegant as you like! We recommend having a statement light feature as a point of interest in the room.  Whether this is a combination of beautiful wall lights, or a bigger option such as a chandelier, it’s bound to create an air of luxury. Other ways of upping the elegance can be through bedding or wallpaper.

3. Picture perfect

Using framed photographs to adorn a wall as decoration is a gorgeous way of adding personality to your space. You could do this in a multiple of ways, embracing symmetry to line up frames, or having mismatched frames for a quirkier classic look. If you’d rather not frame your own then why not invest in a professional shot of a place or a thing that means a lot to you.

4. A cosy extra

Incorporating a window seat into your classic bedroom is an incredibly romantic idea. It would be a beautiful space that you could adorn with stylish finishing touches which could become your own space for some peace and quiet. Even better, it could be turned into a great storage opportunity, so you’re really making the most of every inch of space.

5. Ground control

You’ll find many a traditional bedroom with a classic hardwood floor, whether or not you choose this style is up to you, but it’s probably the most traditional you can get. If this is not for you then we’ve found that the runner up is a plain colour carpet, nude colours mainly, however if you wish for a colour we would recommend a pale one.

6. Consistency

Consistency is key when it comes to traditional bedrooms. When everything is co-ordinated and ties in together it creates a beautiful overall picture.  Therefore we suggest you consider this when picking out wardrobe door shades and finishes, carpet, curtains and all of the other elements that make up a bedroom.  Luckily, we have a wide range of styles, colours and finishes for our fitted wardrobes; you’re bound to find something you love.

7. Antiques

If you’re aiming for an unquestionable, completely traditional bedroom, then indulging in some antique-looking knick knacks to aid in decoration couldn’t hurt. Many people who opt for a classic bedroom choose some traditional artwork, or some china-wear to adorn their shelves.
