The shaker kitchen of the Cozma family

Mihaela Cozma and her family were seeking the perfect shaker kitchen for their newly renovated home in Sully, Penarth.

Following a recommendation from a friend, they headed to our Cardiff Colchester Avenue showroom and began the journey towards their dream kitchen.

What was the brief?

Mrs Cozma explained she wanted a classic kitchen with a “cottagey vibe”. She also had several must-have features including a media unit for some entertainment whilst cooking, a kitchen island, double eye level ovens and a hot water tap.

The family put all of these into their kitchen Wishlist and passed in on to kitchen designer Alice to work her magic.

The design process

It was decided that our beautifully elegant shaker kitchen range Hardwick was perfect to create the classic look that the family desired.

Once the style was chosen, Alice incorporated the family’s requirements into the CAD design. Then, she used her expertise to add other elements that would not only look great but would benefit the family from a functionality perspective.

It was important to Mihaela that the kitchen included a statement feature. Alice came up with the idea to include a mantle above with a tiled splashback underneath which created a fantastic focal point in the kitchen.

Alice also incorporated lights within the shelving to ensure each shelf stood out. She then added open shelving to break up space and unique storage features to help the kitchen function well for the family.

The outcome

The finished kitchen is an undeniable showstopper. Mrs Cozma expressed that although she adores every element of her new kitchen, the kitchen island is her favourite feature, as the whole family can work or relax there at the same time.
